Cardiff Wedding Photographer | Christmas Winter Wedding at the Vale Resort in Cardiff, South Wales

February 20, 2019

IF YOU’RE LIKE ME AND YOU ADORE EVERYTHING ABOUT WINTER THEN YOU’LL LOVE THIS CHRISTMAS-Y WINTER WEDDING IN THE VALE RESORT IN CARDIFF.

BEING A CARDIFF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER MEANS THAT I’M BLESSED BEING ABLE TO PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS ALL THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BUT MY FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN CHRISTMAS. I MEAN WHO DOESN’T WANT TO PHOTOGRAPHER A WINTER WEDDING AT THE MOST MAGICAL TIME OF THE YEAR!

When Amy and Dave first got in touch with me about their Vale Resort winter wedding in Cardiff, I was so excited. They were planning the most romantic and laid back wedding. It included an intimate ceremony, winter-y decor and one of the funniest Christmas wedding cakes ever. I don’t normally photograph many half day weddings so I really enjoyed it. Amy and Dave are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Getting ready

I started shooting at the Vale Resort, where the couple and their families were getting ready. It was so chilled out, because everyone was in a good mood. I love it when couple’s get ready together because it means that I can just switch back and forth between them capturing both of them getting ready!

Amy wore a gorgeous one of a kind dress from Catherine Parry Bridal in Swansea. Dave wore a lovely grey suit and they both looked gorgeous. Maria, the maid of honour wore a stunning sequined gold dress. The flower girls all wore gorgeous matching white dresses with lace overlays. Their groomsmen and page boy looked equally handsome in matching grey suits!

The serious part

The wedding took place in the the Conservatory, and was a intimate legal ceremony, the Conservatory room in the Vale Resort is always amazing to photograph in, because 3/4 of the room has huge glass windows so it is always lit beautifully. They had some beautiful readings from the registrar, which everyone enjoyed. They also had three beautiful flower girls and one handsome page boy who even helped with the rings! After the ceremony they had a sweeping first kiss, and they walked back down the aisle with their lovely daughter Ella!

The party

After the ceremony, we did a couple of group photos and then we snuck off and did some beautiful portraits.

It was a overcast day, which was perfect for photos, even though it was a little cold! While the guests enjoyed canapes and cocktails, we wandered around the venue doing fun and creative portraits. My favourite photo from our couples session is a candid photo of these two walking together outside the Vale Resort.

Photographing weddings during the winter means that you have to be super organised with your timeline. The light disappears so quickly, but it also means that you get some lovely sunset shots.

The wedding reception took place upstairs in the Morgannwg Suite, which they’d decorated with Christmas trees and personalised wooden snowflakes. The speeches were light hearted and very personal, I loved them! Especially Amy and Dave’s daughter who treated us to some karaoke and jokes during her dad’s speech! It was stunning.

Here’s their fun and relaxed Vale Resort wedding! If you’re looking for a Vale Resort wedding photographer, get in touch!
