AS AN ALTERNATIVE CARDIFF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER I KNOW LOTS OF YOU COUPLES ARE SLIGHTLY ON THE FENCE ABOUT HAVING AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION – SO HERE IS MY TOP FIVE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD TOTALLY GO AHEAD AND BOOK YOUR ENGAGEMENT SHOOT!

Reason One: It’s the best way to get comfortable in front of the camera

An engagement shoot really is the best way to practice, have some fun, and feel more at ease in front of a camera. We all want your wedding photos to be amazing and the more relaxed you both feel, the more you’ll love photos you come away with after the big day!

Let’s See The Real You

Reason Two: You can really show off who you are as a couple

Your wedding day will be amazing and your wedding photos will show memories you’ll treasure forever but, as amazing as that day is it is only one day. An engagement shoot gives you the opportunity to show off who you are as a couple the rest of the time.

You guys love cooking, or dancing, or gaming? LET’S DO IT!

Got some cute pets? BRING THEM! (I had to have my French bulldog Alfie in mine!)

Want photos in your local, or you fancy adventuring around your local town or favourite countryside retreat? LET’S GO!

Build That Connection

Reason Three: A chance for you and your photographer to bond

So, you’ve picked a photographer, chatted a bit, stalked each other on social media and maybe had a meeting? An engagement shoot gives us the chance to get to know each other.
I’m basically going to be third wheeling your big day so let’s spend a day together first and get to know each other better. You can tell me all about your plans and ideas so I can the best and most personal photos of the engagement and wedding shoots!

YASSSSS Work It

Reason Four: DUH, Super cute photos of you and your fiancé

Question: What couple doesn’t want some super cute photos of them together? Answer: None!

On an engagement shoot (unlike on the wedding day) there is no schedule, which means we can really have fun, take our time and get creative with the photos!
If you time it right you can even use the photos in your wedding day itself for personalised invites, decorations or social media.

Stress Free Zone

Reason Five: A fun break from wedding planning

I’ll keep this short: wedding planning is stressful! (Trust me, I know)

An engagement shoot can be a fun break from all the stress. You get to spend the day with your love, no lists or budgets or seating plans, just a day to be the two of you, having fun together.

All in all, your engagement photography session should be something that is fun, carefree and totally reflects you two as a couple.  I absolutely adore shooting engagement sessions and we’ve also started offering 30 second engagement highlight videos for those super fun and quirky couples.

If you’re looking for a South Wales based engagement session photographer or anywhere else in the world, I would love to hear from you.
