IF YOU’RE PLANNING A INTIMATE ELOPEMENT OR MICRO WEDDING, YOU’LL ENJOY THIS WEDDING!
When Hannah’s mum first got in touch with me about Hannah and Greg’s elopement, I was so excited – they were planning a relaxed low-key elopement wedding with an intimate ceremony and a pub lunch for the reception. Hannah and Greg were originally getting married this year but had to postpone to next year! Our associate team will be covering their wedding day so I was SO excited that I was available to shoot their South Wales Elopement, Hannah and Greg are the most fun and loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their elopement!
The excitement before the wedding
I started over at Monmouth Registry Office where Greg and his family and friends were relaxing before the big event. Hannah being the uber cool bride that she is wore a white jumpsuit with an overskirt and Greg looked super cool and relaxed and wore a blue suit with chinos and they both looked absolutely gorgeous. One of my favourite things about elopements is that it’s really given couples a chance to show off their personalities through their outfits!
Some of my fav details was Greg’s sunnies which made him look cool af and Hannah’s embellished bridal clutch bag AND the fact that Hannah’s jumpsuit had pockets!! I mean pockets on your wedding day are a godsend trust me!
The ceremony
The wedding took place at the Monmouth Regestry Office, which was beautifully decorated with dried flowers and pampas grass! (We all know I love a bit of pampas grass) The wedding was a small legal ceremony with lots of tears and hand squeezes, they finished the ceremony with a beautiful Welsh reading, which was just magical. After the ceremony they had a dramatic first kiss, and then we did a confetti tunnel outside the venue. After the ceremony, Hannah and Greg and their guests headed outside into the sunshine where they were greeted with their gorgeous pup Phoenix! (More dogs at weddings please!) After we did some confetti photos, we headed over to the grass to do some family portraits in the sunshine!
The afternoon
The wedding reception took place over in the gardens of The Greyhound Inn pub over in Usk, which is a super cute little pub with lots of open outdoor space which was perfect for the weather we had!
I was so glad we had the sunshine, it really did make the day. While the guests hung around drinking Prosecco and eating canapes, Hannah, Greg and I snuck off to take some portrait photos. They had some amazing speeches from Hannah’s stepdad and from Greg and finished off with a gorgeous afternoon tea and a cake cutting!
I think my favourite photo from our portrait session has got to be the portrait of Hannah and Greg laughing and hanging out in the sunshine in their sunnies. Check it out below!
Top tip for planning a wedding
My number one tip for planning a micro wedding, is not to get too disheartened on what could’ve been and to enjoy it, it may not be the way you originally planned but having the chance to really tailor your wedding plans to you as a couple and that can make for a really incredible and intimate wedding.
Here is Hannah and Greg’s wedding story.
